The Atal Bridge, which connects the east and west sides of the Sabarmati Sungai in Ahmedabad, will be inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The iconic 300 meter footbridge, named after the former Atal Prime Minister Bihar Vajpayee, has a unique design and decorated with attractive LED lighting, a glimpse shared by PM Modi before the two -day gujarat visit.
“Isn’t the Atal bridge look spectacular!” PM Modi said.
The special pedestrian bridge will add tourist attractions on the riverbank, connecting the flower garden on the west side with the arts and cultural centers that appear on the east side.
“This bridge will provide connectivity to multi -level car parking and various public development in the East and West banks from the plaza between the flower park and the land of the event in the West Bank to the Art / Culture / Exhibition Center proposed in the East Bank,” said a statement.
PM Modi will also participate in Khadi Utsav which was held in the Sabarmati River today to pay homage to Khadi and its importance during the struggle for Indian freedom. This event will watch 7,500 Khadi craftsmen from all of Charkha’s gujarat spinning at the same time.
The Prime Minister on Sunday will inaugurate Smriti van Memorial in Bhuj on Sunday, which will carry the names of people who died in the destroying 2001 earthquake. This will celebrate the spirit of resilience of the people shown after the earthquake, said PMO’s statement.
