A US journalist has been shot dead at Irpin, the AFP news agency reported quoting medical officers and witnesses. Danyl Shapovalov, a volunteer surgeon for the Ukrainian territorial defense, said American journalist Brent Renaud was killed instantly. Two other journalists were injured and had been hospitalized, reports Independent Kyiv.
According to Kyiv based news sites, the dead journalist was the New York Times contributor but did not conduct assignments in Ukraine.

The murder of the journalist came in the midst of a malignant battle between Russian and Ukrainian forces which was ongoing since the last 17 days.
Previously on that day, at least 35 people were killed and 134 were injured after a rocket attack at the Ukrainian military base in Lviv. According to Ukrainian officials, some of the 50 rockets fired by Russian forces were intercepted before they reached the target.
The war between the two countries continued in cities in Ukraine, even when residents rushed to protect themselves in a bomb bomb and bunker.
