New York: A six-year-old girl who was lost for more than two years has been found hidden in the emergency room “dark and wet” under the stairs in the country of New York rustic, said US police on Wednesday.
Paislee Shelis was reportedly lost in 2019 with officers when suspecting her biological parents, Kimberly and Kirk, to kidnap him after losing custody.
Following the girl’s tip was held in “Secret Location” more than 150 miles (240 km) from where he first disappeared, the police got a search letter for a house in the city of Spencer, New York.
“A little more than an hour into the residence search, the child lies released in the emergency room, under a closed staircase that leads to the residence basement,” read the police statement.
“After removing the stepboard, the child and kidnapper, Kimberly Cooper Shelis was found hiding in a dark and wet cage,” he added.
The clerk said they were confused about how the girl’s kidnappers managed to hide it for so long.
“We were at home … almost a dozen times for a period of two years to follow up on the instructions,” said Police Chief Joseph Sinagra to CNN.
“They lied to us for two years, including the Father, stating that he did not know where his daughter was.”
The girl was in good health and there was no evidence of abuse, the local CBS2 outlet said, reported that she asked the police to buy McDonald’s happy food after being saved.
His parents have now been charged to endanger a child and a custodian disorder. Children’s grandfather – whose house was used to hide it – also charged.
