Beijing: One local Covid-19 case has forced the Chinese border city next to Vietnam to order its residents to stay at home, stop public transportation and several school classes and delay the opening of travel and cargo to pass the port of entry.
China has increased the vigilance of Covid-19 along its borders and at the port to prevent viruses to be brought from sources abroad, after several small border cities, which have fewer health resources than big cities, experience an outbreak for the past three months.
The city of Dongxing in the autonomous Guangxi region in Guangxi, which has a population of more than 200,000, requires all its citizens in the house from Wednesday and avoids without need, CCTV state broadcaster reported.
The steps occur after Dongxing detects one infectious infection in the country with the confirmed symptoms during routine testing.
The city also suspends public transportation services, turning off all tourist sites, cinemas and other entertainment venues and cutting school classes face to face in primary and middle school and kindergarten, according to CCTV.
The port has been postponed from Tuesday, cleaning travelers and cargo as part of the city virus control efforts.
Export and import of urgent cargo must be well planned to avoid losses from waiting, CCTV said.
China has ordered travel agents to stop organizing tourism trips between border cities with port entries and areas outside the province where cities are based on March 15, not including these cities with ports related to Hong Kong and Macau.
