The mourners on Monday will get the first chance to salute in front of Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin, because it is located in the Cathedral of Edinburgh where King Charles III himself will guard.
Thousands of people are expected to line up for the opportunity to see a flag coffin in the Cathedral of ST Giles in the Scottish capital, a week before his funeral in London.
The new king will walk behind his mother’s coffin in a gloomy procession that leads from Holyroodhouse Palace, where he arrived on Sunday after a six -hour streets from Balmoral Castle, to church.
The new king will also speak to members of the British Parliament in London for the first time since the throne, because the wine continues before the funeral of the state September 19.
The long mourning period came with Britain who tried to reconcile himself with the longest death of the king, which has been part of the background of national life almost since World War II.
“Seeing it, in front of us, I think really gave a slight closure,” said Lucy Hampshire, who came to Edinburgh with his girlfriend from the city of England in York to meet the coffin of the queen.
The crowd of 10 Deep turned out to be in Edinburgh when the corpse carrying the queen across the city, with a few cheering, some threw flowers and some tears poured water in the outpouring of respect for the queen.
People also lined up on the streets of the city and villages along the 180 mile route (290 kilometers) from Ratu’s favorite balmoral plantation, where he died on Thursday aged 96 years after seven decades above the throne.
– ‘Last respects’ –
Oak Elizabeth II’s casualties rested overnight on Sunday in the Holyroodhouse Palace throne room, with Charles and his colleague, Consort Camilla flew to Edinburgh on Monday after his visit to parliament.
Raja and Senior Royals will then follow on foot behind his corpse, flanked by the army, in a procession to bring him with the historic Edinburgh kingdom to the Cathedral of St. Giles century 12.
The coffin will be taken to an impressive gray -gray Cathedral, where it will be closed with a scottish crown, before a minister leads the “prayer and reflection” service for the queen.
The coffin will remain there for 24 hours “to allow Scottish people to pay their last respects,” said a palace official. The report said there would be a strict security and a long queue expected.
Raja Charles III and Senior Royals will conduct a vigil next to the late Ratu at 19:20 (1820 GMT), while the soldiers of the Royal Company of Archers will stay on guard throughout.
The Queen’s body will be flown to London on Tuesday by the Royal Air Force Jet to the airfield near London, accompanied by Princess Ratu Princess Anne, and taken to the Buckingham Palace.
The next day Royals will follow the coffin, brought on a weapons train, to the Westminster Hall where he will be located in the state starting at 17:00 (1600 GMT) until the funeral.
At least one million people are expected to come to see the coffin in London. Officials warn that people must hope to wait for “hours” and maybe even to queue overnight.
The funeral itself will be watched throughout the world and attended by many heads of state including US President Joe Biden.
– ‘Why stop now?’ –
When Charles III took what he called the “severe responsibility” of the king, the traditional new King’s visit to parliament would capture his role as the head of the constitutional state.
In the ceremony at the Westminster Hall, the same place as the queen will lie in the state, the two British parliamentary rooms will express their condolences to the “Queen’s Death”.
Charles will then give a formal reply.
Charles will also make his first visit as King to Northern Ireland and Wales this week in the national unity performance.
While the emotional scenes in Scotland showed a deep affection for the queen there, his death had also turned back debate about Scottish independence from England.
Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon said it was a “sad and painful moment” to see the coffin leaving the balmoral but the pro-independence leader had encouraged a new referendum about the divisive issues.
“I’m not for independence – we’ve been together for hundreds of years. Why stop now?” said Murner Anne Johnston, 68, from Edinburgh.
He added, however, that “Don’t be offended by Charles, but I don’t think he will ever live with the queen.”
– Republican realms? –
The British have lost the only king, most of them know, a figure who is familiar to them and millions of people worldwide from banknotes, stamps and annual Christmas television messages.
Charles has seen his popularity recovering since the death of his ex -wife Diana in a car accident in 1997, but he took the throne during a deep anxiety in England due to spiral living costs and international instability caused by war in Ukraine.
With the Republican movement that gets land from Australia to Antigua, the new king also faces the challenges of how to protect the royal family throughout the world that is loved by the queen.
Charles hosted his first reception on Sundays for representatives from the Commonwealth, 14 of the former colonies that he looked besides England – at least for now.
Only a few hours before, Australia and New Zealand officially named Charles King.
But one question depending on the royal family was resolved on Sundays that arose that Prince Andrew who was hit by a scandal and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson would keep the Corgis loved by the Queen.
Prince – who resigned from the royal assignment in 2021 for his relationship with the conqueror of Pedophile Jeffrey Epstein – will face Muick and Sandy, the dogs he has given to the queen in the same year.
