Apple seems to be deliberately getting rid of the Airtag feature which is quite important, and has now been confirmed as lost from iOS 15.6 and Beta iOS 16. Until now, you can no longer track your AirTag battery level in the Find My application, and the feature seems to be completely disappeared. The fact that the feature was deleted from the Find My Application in both iOS versions implies that this is possible – Apple might have pulled the plug and decided not to return it.
If you have never had Apple Airtag, let’s start quickly with what they really do. As we explored in our original AirTag review, AIRTAGS is a small circular device that can be attached to a number of items, be it a key chain or backpack. Once attached to something and arranged correctly, AirTag will help you track the existence of important items through apples find my application. If you lose your wallet, you can make your airtag play sound, or use an iPhone to track it with precision findings.
Even though the air is not too thirsty for power, their battery capacity is limited-after you use it for a while, you have to replace the battery. Airtag itself does not have the user interface, but connects it to your Apple device – until now – gives you an indication of the battery level. Unfortunately, according to Macrumors and Iculture.nl, which seems to no longer occur.
Apple may have had reasons to get rid of the feature
Before this change, Airtags Apple had a small battery indicator. Although not on the device itself, it can still be useful. It is located in the apple find my application, where every Airtag will have a small battery icon similar to any smartphone or tablet. It does not provide much insight to users, because it does not offer the actual percentage value, but you still have visual life of your battery that will turn red when it’s time to replace it. Apple also sent a notification at that time as a reminder.
Starting with the latest version of iOS – iOS 15.6 – there is no battery icon at all. Conversely, Apple sends a notification when the battery is at a critical level and needs to be replaced. As mentioned above, this change seems deliberate – Apple also removes icons on Find My Interfaces on MacOS Monterey 12.5 and on Watchos 8.7. To complete everything, it edits the contents of support documents for AIRTAG, now only refers to the pop-up warning that will appear when your AirTag battery is low, and the potential for a short appearance of the red battery indicator is found by my application just before death.
Apple has not officially commented on this problem, but maybe he chose to get rid of the tracking of the battery life in the AirTag because it is often inaccurate, with some users get a request to replace the battery after using only the device once. Therefore, we might have to get used to the game of guessing a new battery that seems to be going to Apple.
