Pennsylvania: At least three people were killed and several others were injured after the dazzling snow squall caused a multi-vehicle pile on the Interstate 81 at Schuylkill County on Monday, according to the Associated Press.
Police said the number of vehicles involved in collisions on Jalan Raya Pennsylvania ranged from 50 and 60, including trucks, tractor trailers and cars.
A video posted on YouTube showed a vehicle crashing after losing control on a snowy road. Drivers and passengers are seen down from the interstate as a cascade crash revealed along the hilly route.
Some vehicles also burned after the accident, then went out.
The stack occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Monday because almost zero visibility caused by Snow Squall, officials said.
Traffic stacks that growl for a few miles on the highway, make it difficult for emergency respondents and rescuers to reach the site,
The search and rescue operation was ongoing and those who were injured in an accident had been hospitalized for care, officials said, added that this was a second big pileup in a month at Schuylkill County.
The national weather service has warned “a lot of brief snow squally with very bad visibility” in the region.
